Summer Picnic

Summer time in the PNW is absolutely beautiful. Our goal for this summer is to do at least one outdoor activity every weekend. Jayce loves the outdoors so no matter how tired or busy we are, we make every effort to get out of the house every weekend.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and had a family picnic at a nearby park a few weeks ago. We packed up our favorite snacks and drinks, and spent the evening sitting on the picnic blanket, eating our snacks and watching the sunset. Jayce loved watching the birds and rolling on the picnic blanket (we had another big blanket).

Fizzy drinks and fruits are my favorite things to drink and eat during summer. I’m addicted to LaCroix sparkling water. Berry is my all time favorite. They’re 100% natural, zero calorie, zero sugar and zero artificial sweeteners. I live on berries and cherries in the summer because they’re delicious and refreshing. I have hard time eating heavy food during summer because of the heat. With that being said, you’re probably wondering about that big bowl of fried chicken among the healthy light snacks. I love love fried chicken and that’s the one food I can never say no to. On our way to the park, we passed by our favorite chicken place and I just couldn’t resist.

Picnicking is my favorite thing to do during summer. This was our first family picnic and I have a feeling there’ll be more picnics this summer. What’s your favorite summer activity?

Portland Trip + Food Diary

Jimmy and I went on a weekend getaway to Portland a few months ago, one of our favorite cities to visit. It's about 3 hours ride on an Amtrak. We like taking the train instead of driving so we can sit back and relax. Amtrak tickets are inexpensive and cost about $25/person for a round trip. It costs about the same as driving when you add up fuel and hotel parking fee. The Amtrak station in Portland is walking distance from the heart of downtown which makes it super convenient. We like walking around the city, trying out restaurants and doing some shopping.

We finally had a chance to dine at Mother's Bistro. It was always too busy everytime we stopped by and we were always too hungry to wait.  This time we got there before their lunch rush and only waited a few minutes before we were seated. It has great reviews on Yelp. The interior is decorated in a beautiful country-chic style. They serve delicious home style food at a reasonable price. I had wild salmon hash. Jimmy had pulled pork sandwich. Both our dishes were excellent. We shared their crunchy french toast. I was in food coma afterwards.

We dined at Red Star Tavern for dinner one of the nights. Their food is excellent and service is outstanding. I had the Fisherman's stew with shrimp, mussels, rock fish, potatoes, cabbage, chorizo, and green chile broth. Boy!, it was delicious. Jimmy had their Tavern Burger and he loved it. We were both starving when we got there and didn't get to get a photo of his burger.

Kure Juice Bar is a great spot for acai bowls, fresh juice, and smoothies. Everything on their menu is amazing.  I had Lush Life smoothie and it was so good and refreshing.

I'm a coffee addict and love trying to out different coffee shops. This is our first time at Stumptown Coffee and had their mocha. It has the right amount of sweetness and caffeine. So good!

Portland City is our favorite place to go to for Happy Hour. It has a great view of the city at the 30th floor. We order our all time favorite Kung Pao Calamari and Spicy Chili-Ginger Pork Riblets. Portions are big considering it's a Happy Hour. This was indeed a very happy belly trip.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

It has been raining a lot lately in Seattle. The rain makes me want to stay in and be a couch potato. This weekend, Jimmy and I decided to get out of the house to dine at our favorite Japanese restaurant for some delicious sushi and bento box.

It was a cold day and I wanted to stay warm. I wore this cozy turtleneck sweater dress with a camel lapel vest and black boots. This beautiful camel lapel vest from Shein feels like a soft weight wool. It’s even more beautiful than it looks in photos. I’m wearing a XS and the fit is perfect. I love the gorgeous camel color. I think it’s a versatile piece that’ll also pair beautifully with a simple tee and ripped denim.

Denim & Stripes

This denim jacket is a great layer piece for the transition period between seasons. As the weather cools down, I need a light jacket and this piece is perfect for it. Denim jackets are so easy to style and goes with pretty much any outfit. It's definitely my wardrobe staple. I wore this outfit to a brunch with my sister last weekend. I kept it casual with a stripes blouse and white scuba skirt.

We dined at RockCreek Seafood and Spirits in Fremont. It’s within walking distance from my sister’s place and it has great reviews on Yelp. We started with the delicious caramelized apple and ricotta beignets with vanilla bean caramel anglaise. It’s a must have when you’re dining there. I had oyster and bacon benedict with old bay lemon hollandaise. Oysters were deep fried perfectly. My sister had buttermilk fried game hen with masa jalapeno pancakes and country sausage gravy. The game hen was delicious but pancakes got soggy fast. The portions were generous. We were both stuffed at the end of our meal. What’s your favorite brunch spot in town?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I was delighted to wake up to find a beautiful gift box of macarons from MacarOn Cafe. They were carefully packaged with 3 cool packs and thermal envelope to ensure freshness. The box contained assortment of macarons. Flavors include Rose Lychee, Nutella, Strawberry Smoothie, Dark Chocolate, Wedding Almond, and Milk Chocolate Marshmallow.

They taste fresh. They also have the perfect amount of sweetness and texture to them. I can eat these all day everyday. MacarOn Cafe has several locations in New York. But you don’t have to live in New York to get these delicious macarons. You can order them online here at
