Summer Picnic

Summer time in the PNW is absolutely beautiful. Our goal for this summer is to do at least one outdoor activity every weekend. Jayce loves the outdoors so no matter how tired or busy we are, we make every effort to get out of the house every weekend.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and had a family picnic at a nearby park a few weeks ago. We packed up our favorite snacks and drinks, and spent the evening sitting on the picnic blanket, eating our snacks and watching the sunset. Jayce loved watching the birds and rolling on the picnic blanket (we had another big blanket).

Fizzy drinks and fruits are my favorite things to drink and eat during summer. I’m addicted to LaCroix sparkling water. Berry is my all time favorite. They’re 100% natural, zero calorie, zero sugar and zero artificial sweeteners. I live on berries and cherries in the summer because they’re delicious and refreshing. I have hard time eating heavy food during summer because of the heat. With that being said, you’re probably wondering about that big bowl of fried chicken among the healthy light snacks. I love love fried chicken and that’s the one food I can never say no to. On our way to the park, we passed by our favorite chicken place and I just couldn’t resist.

Picnicking is my favorite thing to do during summer. This was our first family picnic and I have a feeling there’ll be more picnics this summer. What’s your favorite summer activity?

Floral Maxi Dress + Tips for finding Maxi Dresses for Petites

Floral dresses are my favorite things to wear in spring/summer.  Flowers always put me in a cheerful mood and so do the floral dresses. This flowy maxi dress is so pretty and sweet. It has so many pretty details. I love how the waist tie helps accentuate my waistline and makes me look slimmer.  The v-neck and side slits add just the perfect amount of sexiness. The puff sleeves aren’t usually my thing but I actually like how they look on this dress. I think they add an extra feminine appeal to the entire look. I wore my favorite strappy heels to keep this look feminine. This is a calf length dress and fits me perfectly as a maxi.

I love maxi dresses but being extra petite, I always have difficult time finding ones that fit me without having to cut off ¼ of the dress. Most maxi dresses I fell in love with aren't available in petite. I either end up needing a complicated alteration or  losing pretty hem details. The complicated alterations can cost more than the price of the dress. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with midi and calf length dresses and loving the results. Most of them fit me perfectly as a maxi. Question for my fellow petites, how do you shop for maxi dresses? I’d love to hear your tips.

Thank you so much for visiting.

Off the Shoulder Statement Bell Sleeves + Blog Redesign

This gorgeous flirty top speaks for itself. The off the shoulder design paired with statement sleeves give it a romantic feel. I’ve always been a huge fan of off the shoulder pieces. I just love how they instantly make me look and feel sexy without baring too much skin.

I always love the statement sleeve trend but stayed away from it because I thought the sleeves would be too overwhelming on my petite frame. When I saw this top, I couldn’t resist anymore and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did because I fell in love with it. These tiered layer bell sleeves are fun and playful. The color is so pretty. I wanted the top to be the main focus so I kept the rest of this outfit simple with blue jeans and black pumps.

You may have noticed the new blog design and layout. I’ve been wanting to give this space a face lift for a while but couldn’t quiet decide on the final look. I expanded the top menu bar to include different categories. The new layout highlights recent posts in a slideshow. The images are bigger than before. I hope you like the new look.

Split Bell Sleeve Dress

You may recall reading about my love for pastels in my previous post. I’m continuing my pastel outfit series. Here is another pastel outfit that I absolutely adore. Blue has always been one of my favorite colors. Doesn’t this pastel blue make you think of a warm beautiful spring day?

I’m so glad to see the bell sleeve trend continues into spring. These split bell sleeves add a playfulness touch to this dress. This dress would have been plain and boring without them. I also love how versatile this dress is. Accessories are fun and easy way to change up an outfit. Necklaces are my favorite way to dress up a look. My all time favorite statement pearl necklace from Ann Taylor worked beautifully to take this look to the next level. For a casual look, throw on a khaki trench and summer sandals and you’re good to go.

For reference, I’m wearing a size 4. This dress is super affordable at less than $25. What is your current favorite spring trend?

Blush Bow Back Dress

I love everything pastels for this spring. They’re just so pretty and feminine. You’ll be seeing a lot of pastel looks on this blog. This blush tone makes me think of the beautiful cherry blossoms. This isn't just a simple bodycon dress, it comes with a fun twist. It has gorgeous back details. I absolutely adore the open back and bow details. The square neckline and knee length skirt make this dress suitable for the office (pair it with a long cardigan to hide the open back). This is such a fun dress to wear.

This dress is from ASOS Collection and it’s less than $35. This was my first time ordering from ASOS and I’ll definitely shop there again.  ASOS Collection dresses are trendy and affordable. I read reviews from other buyers that their sizes run small which is great for petites. I sized up to size 6 just in case. I think I could have gone with a size 4. I normally wear size 2 or 4 dresses. I love the design of this dress but I wish the length is more petite friendly and fabric is thicker.  The skirt hits me at an awkward length so I had it hemmed. In addition, the skirt isn’t lined and fabric is on the thin side so wearing a slip is highly recommended.

It's so important to choose the right undergarments. Wearing the wrong bra or underwear can ruin your outfit. A  backless adhesive bra from Kissbobo is perfect for this dress because I can show off the beautiful open back and darling bow. This bra is comfortable and adhesive works great. It stayed in place all day long. Last thing you want is the adhesive coming apart while you’re out in the public. Unfortunately I had that happened to me and oh boy, it was embarrassing.  The bra has a drawstring clasp which helps provide additional support. It comes with a storage bag so I can store it properly and safely for my next wear.   This bra is also perfect for low cut neckline and cut out clothing. Check out Kissbobo to find that perfect bra for you.
