3 tips for getting your wardrobe ready for Fall

I’m partnering with J.Jill to share how I’m preparing my wardrobe for fall. Summer is still going strong in Seattle but fall will be here before we know it. The days are getting shorter and nights are cooler. There’re so many things I love about fall. My absolute favorite part is fall fashion. Here’re 3 simple steps to get your closet ready for the upcoming season.

  1. Rearrange Closet: Put away your summer clothes to make room for fall clothes. I’m still going to keep my floral pieces in dark colors because they’ll transition well into fall. I used to store my summer clothes in the garage but now that I have more closet space, I place my off season clothes on higher shelves. That way everything I need for the current season are right there in front of me (petite girl’s problem).
  2. Assess your wardrobe: I’m kind of a neat freak and hate a messy closet. At the start of every season, I go through and donate clothes I haven’t worn in a couple of years. That way my closet isn’t cluttered with clothes I don’t wear anymore. It’s so much easier to see what I have and assess what I need.
  3. Plan out new addition:  I’m a planner by nature. I have a list for pretty much everything from wardrobe planning to spring cleaning and meal planning. For this fall, cardigans are on top of my list of items I need. They are my favorite layering piece. What’s great about cardigans is they come in variety of styles, colors and materials to choose from. They’re easy to style and versatile. These beautiful cardigans from J.Jill are my newest addition. They’re beautiful and versatile. The quality is consistent with other J.Jill pieces. Both cardigans will look beautiful with leggings to jeans and dresses. I’m wearing XSP for both pieces. The fit is perfect for my extra petite frame.  I always have issues with sleeves running long on me but both pieces fit me perfectly.

The red yarn topper is an eye catcher. The color is perfect for fall. It’s warm and cozy like wearing your favorite blanket. It has a nice weight to it but not heavy. The fit is a little loose so I can layer it over thicker sweaters on really cold days. I paired it with a little black dress for a Sunday brunch. That way I can stay warm during the morning and take it off when it gets warmer in the afternoon.

The double faced black/camel cardigan is so soft. It’s a great transition piece from summer to fall. I wore this to a coffee meet up with my sister. I went for a casual look with a white top and high waisted jeans. This cardigan is perfect is layering over lightweight blouses because of its slimmer cut.

Happy 1st Birthday

Dear Jayce,

I can't believe you are officially a toddler. I will always remember the first moment I laid my eyes on your sweet face and whispered to you “Welcome home baby. We've waited so long to meet you”.  You were perfect in every way. From that moment I knew you’ll always have my unconditional love.

The first month of motherhood was an adventure learning to change diaper, figuring out how to breastfeed you and trying to function with just 3-4 hours of sleep. I remember the first time I had to change your diaper without daddy and it was on backward. I laughed so hard when I found out. The first time I had to take you to your doctor’s appointment by myself and I couldn’t open the stroller but was too embarrassed to ask for help. I ended up carrying you inside.

This first year was exhausting yet so rewarding. Before you came into our lives, there was nothing that can wake me up in the wee hours of the night. Now a little movement from you and I would jump out of my bed to run to you. I remember the first time you slept through the night, I woke up multiple times to check on you.

You've brought so much love and joy into our lives. You make everything in my life more meaningful. I never knew how much I can love until I met you.  Always know that you are also surrounded by so many people that love you. Daddy and I will always be here to guide and support you. We love you so very much, Jayce! Happy first birthday my love!

Thank you so much for visiting!

Cold-Shoulder Chambray Dress

We took these photos on our way to our very first family vacation in June. Stay tuned for those vacation photos. I’ve been wanting to visit the Point Defiance Rose Garden for some time now but didn’t want to drive an hour to get there. This trip was the perfect time to stop by since it was on the way. The rose garden is beautiful. It’s a perfect place for photos. I highly recommend visiting it. It’s located by the Point Defiance zoo so you can combine your visit to the garden with the zoo. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the zoo so we’re definitely coming back to the visit it and check out the garden again.

Summer is in full swing in Seattle. It hasn’t rained for over 51 days now, crazy right? We broke the record. I’m definitely not complaining about it. This beautiful summer weather is perfect for wearing dresses. Dresses are my favorite fashion staple. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to style them. Plus they give you the instant feminine look. This cold-shoulder chambray dress is so sweet and adorable. I love the beautiful silhouette of this dress. The ruffle overlay is just so pretty. The tiered skirt with ruffled hem gives it a feminine feel to this dress. I’m wearing an extra small in petite. It’s currently on sale for under $27.00. This chambray version is sold out but you can get it in floral prints and black.

How gorgeous are these peonies in my bag? They’re from my garden. They were in full bloomed when we left for our vacation. It was a hot weekend so by the time we returned they were pretty much done. I wish the peony season lasts all summer long.

J.Jill’s August Collection

I’m partnering with J.Jill today for their August collection launch. I’m excited to share my favorite pieces from their petite collection which includes a range of paisley prints to solids and stripes on cool, breathable, cotton fabric to ease you into the upcoming fall season! It’s never too early to start shopping for fall clothes, right?

How adorable is this dress? It drapes beautifully like an A-line dress. The paisley print is beautiful and feminine. It’s soft and lightweight which is great for summer wear. It’s also a great transition piece for early fall when the weather just starts to cool down. The colors are perfect for summer as well as for fall. This dress runs a little longer than I’d like. I’m thinking of getting it hemmed to about 2 inches above my knees.

Dress: Sleeveless Mock-Neck Dress (xsp)

Bag: Talbots

I’m obsessed with these pants. These are my very first pair of floral pants and won’t be my last. The bold floral print and colors are beautiful. They’re super comfortable. The fabric is so soft, I want to wear it all day long. The wide waist bands and pleats are flattering in the tummy area. The pants drape beautifully.  The pockets are an added bonus.

Top: H&M

Pants: J.Jill Pleated Cropped Pants (xsp)

Bag: Ted Baker

Shoes: Charles by Charles David

This little black dress is so light and comfortable.  Summer is all about wearing bright colors but I want to show you how you can make a black dress look summery. I went with lighter color accessories to give this look a summer vibe. This black dress is so versatile. Play with different accessories and shoes for different occasions.  For a date night or office look, pair it with black pumps, a statement necklace and satchel. Add a thin belt to add some shape. You can even wear it as a beach cover up.

Dress: J.Jill Easy A-Line Dress (xsp)

Bag: Talbots

Complete your outfit with this beautiful Love/Hope necklace. It’s a reversible necklace that can be worn to show either "love" or "hope". J.Jill is donating 100% of its proceeds to community based organizations that directly help women in need through J.Jill's Compassion Fund.

Floral Ruffle Tunic

Today I’m sharing another fun floral outfit. I’ve been adding a lot of floral pieces to my closet lately and this is definitely one of my top favorites. I found this beautiful floral ruffle tunic at my friend’s boutique. The bright floral print and ruffle hem caught my eyes and I knew I had to have it.  I normally gravitate toward lighter colors for summer but I love how the blue and pink poppy branches stand out against the black background. I absolutely adore the ruffle hem. It adds a touch of playfulness to this beautiful dress.

This tunic is so soft and comfortable. I wore it on a scorching hot 90 degree (that’s pretty hot for Seattle) day and I was able to stay cool. The relaxed fit is very forgiving. I took these photos after a big lunch and I didn’t have to suck my stomach in. I wanted to keep this look summery and paired it with summer accessories. This straw tote is an oldie but I love it because I can throw everything I need like my makeup and baby bottles. It’s my summer mommy bag. These nude sandals are so cute and comfortable.

This adorable tunic is from Agnes & Dora. I was recently introduced to Agnes & Dora by my friend Walika who’s an independent sales representative. The brand offers effortless fashion featuring the latest trends for women. There’re so many beautiful tops, dresses and leggings to choose from. Walika has so many amazing selections at her boutique. Be sure to check it out. Consider joining her Facebook group for styling tips.
